Saudi halts oil shipments through key strait after Houthi attacks

The United Nations is warning that air attacks by the Saudi-Emirati coalition in Yemen are putting civilians at extreme risk.


But the conflict is not only causing the world’s worst humanitarian crisis, it is also hitting international trade.


Last week, Saudi Arabia temporarily suspended oil shipments through the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, which connects the Gulf of Aden to the Red Sea.


Al Jazeera’s Natasha Ghoneim has more on efforts by Djibouti to protect the western portion of the waterway.

With Trump's deadline looming, Canada waits for news on steel tariffs

READ MORE The countdown is on as Canada waits to learn whether it will face steep U.S. tariffs on steel and aluminum. U.S. President Donald Trump imposed sweeping tariffs in March of 25 per cent on steel imports and 10 per cent on aluminum, but granted temporary exemptions to certain countries. In the case of Canada and Mexico, Trump’s administration tied both countries’ tariff exemptions to the successful renegotiation of the North American Free Trade Agreement.
