Almost 500 people were killed and a million left homeless after the worst floods in a century hit the coastal state in May. The torrential rains destroyed tens of thousands of homes, ruined crops and washed away roads and bridges. At the state assembly on Thursday,  Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said the economic losses would exceed $3.73bn. With Trump's deadline looming, Canada waits for news on steel tariffs

READ MORE The countdown is on as Canada waits to learn whether it will face steep U.S. tariffs on steel and aluminum. U.S. President Donald Trump imposed sweeping tariffs in March of 25 per cent on steel imports and 10 per cent on aluminum, but granted temporary exemptions to certain countries. In the case of Canada and Mexico, Trump’s administration tied both countries’ tariff exemptions to the successful renegotiation of the North American Free Trade Agreement.
